Sure, Jersey Perks Coffee Co. is about exceptional, specialty grade coffee. But that is not all we are about. We want to make a difference in the world, and what is more important than children? After all, they are the future! No one likes to see anyone sick or dying, but seeing a child go through that is just heartbreaking. Children should be playing, laughing and having fun. Life is really hard for grown-ups, but it shouldn't be for kids. Unfortunately, sometimes diseases happen without warning, leaving everyone devastated. That is partially behind our decision to become a Partner in Hope with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. We donate a portion of our proceeds from each bag of coffee sold.
St. Jude was founded by Danny Thomas and opened on February 4,1962 in Memphis, Tennessee. It became a unique research institution, joining the best doctors and scientists, who tirelessly work together to cure childhood cancer and other deadly diseases. Their track record is impressive, to say the least. Survival rates have greatly improved among childhood cancer patients. They lead the way on how the world treats cancer and other life-threatening illnesses, and they freely share their knowledge and research worldwide. Their efforts also include St. Jude Global, Cure4kids and Together by St. Jude among others.
The donations received are used for patient care treatment, as well as travel, housing and food, regardless of the cost. The families can spend their time concentrating on their child's recovery rather than worrying about medical expenses.
We are happy that we can say that we are a Partner in Hope with St. Jude. As Danny Thomas said, "A dream is one thing, a realization is something totally separate."
